Practical guide / Lead handling

What happens after an enquiry arrives?

A simple way to review enquiry ownership, qualification, follow-up and the handover from marketing to a sales conversation.

01

Give every enquiry an owner

Identify where website and campaign enquiries arrive and who is responsible for reading them. A shared inbox or CRM only helps when someone owns the next step. Agree a practical backup for the times that person is unavailable.

02

Keep the context with the request

The service someone selected, the page they came from and the problem they described can make the first response more useful. Collect only the information that helps your team respond; avoid making the form longer just because more fields are possible.

03

Define a good fit

A relevant enquiry depends on your business: the service, location, project size, timing or technical requirements. Use a clear set of questions to understand fit rather than treating every contact as the same opportunity.

04

Record the next action

An enquiry may need a reply, a short discussion, more information or a quotation. Recording that next action makes it easier to see which requests are moving forward and which are waiting. The process can begin simply and become more structured as volume grows.

05

Review patterns without inventing certainty

Look for repeated questions, missing information or a mismatch between the ad and the request. Those observations can guide improvements to the offer, page and follow-up. A rise in contacts alone does not establish better sales or profitability.
